Highlights of Team USA: First American medal on Day 1

In the end, the Americans won the event for the third time in a row with a time of 3:09.28.
Italy won bronze with a time of 3:10.70, while Australia finished in second place with a time of 3:10.35.
In the women's 4x100m freestyle relay, Australia turned the tables on the United States, winning gold and breaking an Olympic record with a time of 3:28.92.
China claimed bronze, while Team USA set a new American record with a time of 3:30.20 to win silver.
Gretchen Walsh, Torri Huske, Kate Douglass, and Simone Manuel are the four swimmers representing Team USA that are taking home gold.

Star American swimmer Katie Ledecky earned bronze in the 400-meter freestyle on Saturday in the individual finals of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, earning her eleventh medal overall.
In the meantime, Gretchen Walsh of Connecticut ran a mark of 55.38 seconds in the women's 100-meter butterfly semifinals, shattering the Olympic record. Walsh contested her own 55.18 world record time.
She finished in second place behind Australia's Ariarne Titmus, who won her second consecutive 400-meter gold medal in 3:57.49.
With a semifinal time of 56.0, fellow American Torri Huske recorded the second-best time.The 100-meter butterfly final is scheduled for Sunday at 2:40 PM Eastern Time.
